I was very excited to start reading the next adventure of Helix the turtle. These books are so fabulous - adorable illustrations combined with a beautiful message for children. What a wonderful way to build empathy and understanding in our children by encouraging common interests and friendships instead of focusing on differences. Through the character of Helix, which was a real turtle with a disability, we see that there's no need to be nervous around people who are different than us. We can all be friends. And children that do have a disability now have a fabulous character that they can relate to. I especially love all the photos at the end of the book about the real turtles and family that inspired this book. I hope there are many more adventures for Helix.
